Original 1872 Liberty Seated Half Dime struck at the Philadelphia Mint during the final years of America's historic half-dime denomination.
Designed with a seated figure of Liberty on the obverse and the denomination HALF DIME within a wreath on the reverse, this small silver coin represents a denomination that disappeared from United States coinage after 1873.
This example has no mintmark, identifying it as the Philadelphia issue.
The coin retains strong visible detail for a circulated example, including a clear 1872 date, much of Liberty's gown and shield detail, a nearly complete obverse legend, and well-defined reverse lettering and wreath.
