1906 R.F. Outcault “Hope You Won’t Forget Me” Comic Postcard – Bulldog – Posted

Original 1906 illustrated comic postcard by noted American cartoonist R. F. Outcault, titled “Hope You Won’t Forget Me.”

The humorous illustration depicts a man being pulled off his feet by a bulldog gripping his coat, while his hat and rake fly through the air.

Signed in the image “R. F. Outcault” and printed with the copyright line:

“Copyright 1906 by J. Ottmann Lith. Co., N.Y.”

This example was actually mailed in 1906 and retains its original one-cent U.S. postage stamp and period postal cancellations. The reverse is addressed to George Heller of Narvon P.O., Lancaster County, Pennsylvania.

An appealing early American comic postcard combining turn-of-the-century humor, postal history, and the work of an important American cartoonist.

Condition

Antique used/postally circulated condition. Age toning, staining, surface wear, edge and corner wear, postal ink and period handwritten message are present. No attempt has been made to clean or alter the card.
