Original pre-Revolution Cuban rent receipt dated December 19, 1956, in Havana, Cuba.

The document records payment for the rental of Room No. 6 at 203 Ángeles Street (Calle Ángeles No. 203), Havana.

An original República de Cuba revenue/fiscal stamp remains attached to the front and was canceled as part of the transaction.

The reverse is particularly interesting, retaining the complete printed “Observaciones” section outlining six rules governing the tenancy. These include advance payment requirements, maintenance and cleanliness of the room, restrictions on overnight guests and animals, rules for common areas and provisions allowing eviction for failure to comply with the regulations.

A fascinating piece of everyday social and economic history from Havana only a few years before the Cuban Revolution.

No claim is made that the property was a particular hotel or boarding house, as the surviving document identifies the street address and room number but does not name the establishment.
