1969 Cuba World Fencing Championships Ramón Fonst Souvenir Cover – Havana

Original Cuban philatelic souvenir cover commemorating the 1969 World Fencing Championships held in Havana, Cuba.

This large illustrated cover features a fencing scene with the inscription “Campeonato Mundial de Esgrima – La Habana – Octubre 2 al 13, 1969.”

Mounted at upper right is the commemorative Ramón Fonst souvenir sheet, honoring the celebrated Cuban fencer and Olympic champion of 1900 and 1904. The sheet incorporates the 50-centavo World Fencing Championships stamp and bears a special Havana October 2, 1969 commemorative cancellation.

Ramón Fonst was one of Cuba's most important early athletes and an internationally significant figure in fencing history. His Olympic victories made him one of the pioneering Olympic champions from Latin America.

An attractive crossover collectible combining Cuban philately, Olympic history, fencing memorabilia and Cuban sports history.

Condition: Vintage condition with visible age-related toning, foxing, spotting and storage marks to the envelope, including staining around the souvenir sheet and on the reverse. The souvenir sheet, stamp, illustrations and commemorative cancellation remain clearly visible. The envelope is unaddressed.
