The stamps are the U.S. 2¢ Washington issue in reddish carmine, Type III, overprinted in black:

The complete lower selvage remains attached and displays the Bureau of Engraving & Printing imprint together with Plate No. 761, making this a much more desirable collectible format than an individual stamp.
