Captioned “Vista de Varadero, Cuba – Foto: Victor Aton,” the image presents Varadero before the extensive tourism development that would transform the famous Cuban resort town, with low buildings, open landscape, palm trees and unpaved or lightly developed roads visible across the scene.

Victor Aton was an established photographer working in Cárdenas, Matanzas, during the 1940s and produced a number of photographic views documenting Varadero and the surrounding region.

The postcard is unused and retains its original divided postcard back.
