An original 1870 Spanish 5 Pesetas silver coin issued during Spain's Provisional Government period, featuring one of the most iconic designs of 19th-century Spanish coinage.

The obverse depicts the allegorical figure of Hispania, seated against the Pyrenees with Gibraltar at her feet and holding an olive branch. The inscription ESPAÑA appears above, with the date 1870 below.

The reverse features the crowned Spanish coat of arms between the Pillars of Hercules, with the denomination 5 PESETAS below. The inscription LEY 900 MILESIMAS · 40 PIEZAS EN KILOG. identifies the coin's .900 silver standard.

The small stars flanking ESPAÑA identify the date as ★18 – ★70, and the reverse carries the S.N.-M. assayer and mint marks.
