Original 1916 Cuban 1 Centavo coin issued during the early Republic of Cuba.

The obverse features the coat of arms of the Republic of Cuba surrounded by the inscription “REPUBLICA DE CUBA”, with “UN CENTAVO” below. The reverse displays the Cuban star with the numeral 1, surrounded by the national motto “PATRIA Y LIBERTAD” and the date 1916.

This issue was struck at the Philadelphia Mint and belongs to the early coinage of the Republic of Cuba. The regular 1916 issue had a reported mintage of 9,318,000 pieces and is cataloged as KM# 9.1 / JMA# 2.
