1940s Cuba Real Photo Postcard – San Miguel de los Baños – Victor Aton RPPC

The photograph shows an imposing historic building rising above lush tropical gardens, with several people standing along the stone pathway and stairway leading toward the structure. The lower margin is captioned “Vista San Miguel de los Baños” and credited “Foto Victor Aton.”

San Miguel de los Baños was historically known as a Cuban spa and resort town, celebrated for its mineral springs and picturesque landscape. During the first half of the 20th century, its hotels, gardens, streets and architecture became subjects of photographic postcards documenting the town during its period as a popular destination.

Unlike a conventional printed postcard, this example is a real photographic postcard (RPPC) produced on photographic paper. The reverse bears the Agfa Ansco photographic paper marking and “Made in U.S.A.”

An evocative surviving photographic record of pre-Revolutionary Cuba and an appealing piece for collectors of Cuban photography, Matanzas history and vintage Cuban ephemera.
