1951 Cuba Repertorio Médico-Habanero Souvenir Sheet – Carlos J. Finlay Martyrs of Science Black Overprint

Original Republic of Cuba philatelic souvenir sheet featuring the 1940 Repertorio Médico-Habanero centennial issue with the special 1951 black commemorative overprint honoring Dr. Carlos J. Finlay and the Martyrs of Science.

The overprint commemorates the 50th anniversary of the discovery of the transmitting agent of yellow fever and includes the dates 1901–1951, together with the prominent inscription “HONOR A LOS MARTIRES DE LA CIENCIA.”

The underlying souvenir sheet commemorates the centennial of the Repertorio Médico-Habanero (1840–1940), an important early Cuban medical publication.
