1958 Cuba Banco Nacional de Cuba Five-Banknote Set

An attractive collection of five original Cuban banknotes issued by the Banco Nacional de Cuba in 1958, shortly before the Cuban Revolution transformed the country's monetary system.

The set includes five different denominations featuring prominent figures from Cuban history:

• 1 Peso – José Martí – Serial No. M858796B
• 5 Pesos – Máximo Gómez – Serial No. J913891A
• 10 Pesos – Carlos Manuel de Céspedes – Serial No. B905355A
• 20 Pesos – Antonio Maceo – Serial No. J836885A
• 50 Pesos – Calixto García – Serial No. B716219A

The notes feature detailed historical and economic scenes on their reverses, including Cuba's sugar industry, agriculture, cigar production, and the national coat of arms.

The 5 Pesos issue was printed by Thomas De La Rue, while several of the other denominations were produced by the American Bank Note Company. The 1958 5 Pesos is cataloged as Pick P-91a, while the 1958 10 Pesos is P-88b.

The notes retain their original red serial numbering and Banco Nacional de Cuba seals. The 1958 issues also preserve an interesting transitional moment in Cuban monetary history immediately preceding the revolutionary-era currency changes of 1959–1961.

Condition:
Original circulated vintage condition with varying degrees of handling, folds, toning, minor staining and age-related wear. No grading is implied. Please examine all photographs carefully, as they form an important part of the condition description.
