1958 Cuba Movimiento 26 de Julio 2 Pesos Anniversary Bond – Moncada – No. 67831

Original 1958 Cuban Movimiento 26 de Julio 2 Pesos Anniversary Bond, issued to commemorate the fifth anniversary of the July 26, 1953 attack on the Moncada Barracks, a pivotal event in the history of the Cuban Revolution.

The front features revolutionary imagery associated with the Moncada attack, the inscription “Emisión Aniversario,” “Libertad o Muerte,” and the dates 1953 – 26 de Julio – 1958.

The reverse displays a map of Cuba, the flag associated with the July 26 Movement, the location “Moncada,” and individually printed number 67831.

This is a historical revolutionary bond/scrip issue rather than a conventional Banco Nacional de Cuba circulating banknote, making it an interesting piece of Cuban political, monetary and revolutionary ephemera.
