1959 Cuba La Salle Manzanillo Gran Feria Ticket – Club 10 – Rare Ephemera

Original Cuban La Salle event ticket from Manzanillo, dated March 6, 1959 — a remarkable piece of surviving educational and social ephemera from a pivotal year in Cuban history.

Issued for the “Gran Feria Lasallista,” the ticket announces the ceremonial “Investidura del Comandante en Jefe y su Estado Mayor,” held on the grounds of Club 10 in Manzanillo, Cuba.

The ticket retains the distinctive red-and-blue De La Salle shield, an original admission price of $1.00, and the printer's imprint “Imp. H. P. Téllez, Manzanillo.”

Its date gives the piece particularly interesting historical context. The Brothers of the Christian Schools (De La Salle) established their presence in Manzanillo around this period, and historical records document La Salle activity in the city during 1959–1960. The institution would operate there only briefly before Cuba's Catholic schools were closed in the early 1960s.

Club 10 was itself a notable Manzanillo social and sporting institution. In 1959, a Club 10 softball team represented Cuba in international competition in the United States.

The wording “Comandante en Jefe y su Estado Mayor” appears to refer to a ceremonial role associated with the Lasallian fair; the individual holding the title has not been identified, and the ticket is not represented as an official Cuban government or military document.
