Antique Cuban postcard depicting an elaborate horse-drawn funeral carriage in Havana, captioned “Recuerdo de Habana – Carro Fúnebre – Cuban funeral.”

The striking scene shows an ornate ceremonial hearse drawn by four horses, accompanied by uniformed attendants outside a church. Elaborate horse-drawn funeral carriages were a distinctive feature of funerals in early 20th-century Havana.

The reverse features the coat of arms of the Republic of Cuba and the inscriptions “Tarjeta Postal” and “Union Postale Universelle.” The postcard is unused and has never been mailed.

Estimated date: c. 1905–1915.

A fascinating piece of early Republican-era Cuban social history, particularly appealing to collectors of Cuba, Havana, funeral and mourning history, horse-drawn transportation, and early postcards.
