Original vintage postcard in heavily used vintage condition with substantial age-related wear, staining and soiling, surface abrasions and image loss, creasing, edge and corner wear, and dark residue/marks on the reverse. Unposted. Despite the condition, the principal railroad and harbor scene remains clearly visible. Please examine all photographs carefully.

Description:
Original early 20th-century postcard depicting the railroad and harbor facilities at Boquerón, Cuba, on the eastern side of Guantánamo Bay.

The remarkable scene shows railroad tracks and rolling stock beside the waterfront, passenger cars, freight cars, workers, port buildings and a steamship at the terminal.

Boquerón served as an important southern railroad terminus and port for eastern Cuba. Historical records document the Cuba Eastern Railroad connection between Boquerón, Guantánamo and San Luis. The railroad properties were subsequently associated with the Guantánamo & Western Railroad, organized in 1909.

The visible railroad equipment makes this an especially appealing piece of Cuban transportation history, combining railroadiana, maritime history and early Guantánamo Bay imagery in a single scene.

The front bears the handwritten/printed identification “Boqueron Cuba.”
